Western Hoist, Inc. is the largest manufacturer of automotive to heavy duty lifts in the U.S. We make lifts that will hoist anything from lawn mowers to automobiles to heavy city buses. We can also custom design and manufacture lifts to fit a customer's specific needs.

History
Founded in 1928 by the grandfather of its current president, Jon Halstead, Western Manufacturing Co. has grown from modest San Jose, California beginnings to a well established and highly respected manufacturer and supplier of hydraulic lifts to the automotive service industry.

The family owned company's early growth was under the directions of Jon's parents, John and Vivian Halstead, who operated Western from 1932 to 1974. John patented many features considered "state of the art" to this day.

Jon, who instigated Western's 1975 move from San Jose to the San Diego suburb of National City, CA, became president that year. His penchant for keeping abreast of the times is evident in considerable plant modernization.
